The Department of Education Studies engages in teacher education at undergraduate and postgraduate and pre-service and in-service levels. In addition it offers undergraduates courses in Psychology and General Education, Master’s Degree programmes to teachers and other professionals and research degrees. Staff conduct research in a wide variety of areas and actively participate in local educational developments.

The Department is seeking a suitable candidate to be involved in the teaching of Mathematics Education, which is a developing area in our Teacher education and Master’s Degree programmes and to teach in at least one of the following areas: (1) Curriculum and assessment; (2) Pedagogy, classroom management and communication; (3) Philosophy of Education.

The appointee is expected to have a clear research focus and to undertake research, to teach at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, to supervise teaching practice in schools, to participate in administration and course coordination, and curriculum planning/development and to contribute to local educational developments where appropriate.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree, be active in research in a relevant field and have related teaching experience, preferably at secondary school and tertiary levels. Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor should have a strong publication record, and several years of teaching and academic administration experience. Applicants should have a good command of English. A relevant teacher certificate would be desirable and knowledge of the education system in Hong Kong will be an advantage.

Initial appointment will be for a period of one to three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
