Job Summary

The IELTS teaching staff assists with English delivery of a high quality International foundation course based at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, by teaching productive skills of language, such as Speaking and Writing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To work as part of a team of academics, flexible and supportive of all program activities;
• To undertake relevant responsibilities including: lesson planning, learning support material, tutorial, assessment, IELTS paper correcting;
• To provide full academic support to assure maximum student potential is achieved and maximum students’ achievement both on communication skills and writing capacity.

Background Experience/Qualifications

The successful candidate should:

• Possess at least a bachelor degree in Education (or equivalent), certification in teaching is preferred, TESOL, Celta or Delta;
• Be able to demonstrate experience of practice and teaching experience related to teaching English and working experience within a Higher Education institution. The experience of working with Chinese art students is preferred;
• Have substantial knowledge of IELTS teaching and the supporting theoretical and academic contexts;
• Be familiar with the academic requirements of International Foundation program with the experience of working internationally;

Brief Introduction of CAFA IFC

The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), located in Beijing, the capital of China, is an academy where culture, history and art are flourishing, which enjoys the best art resources of the world. CAFA, as the leading institution for modern art education in China, and the only art academy of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Education, provides a rich land for those who wish to learn experience and engage in creativities, which has nurtured quite a lot of pre-eminent artists in the past ninety years.

The International Foundation Course (IFC) for overseas studies is founded by CAFA and aims to prepare students who are interested in Design and Fine Art and wish to study in overseas colleges and universities of Design and Fine Art at undergraduate level. Through providing a high-quality education, we grant the students the necessary academic and language capabilities required by overseas colleges of Art and Design. We have established the stable partnership with more than twenty world-wide famous Art colleges.

In the academic year 2009-2010 of CAFA IFC, there were approximately 100 students studying and having been successfully accepted by many important foreign art colleges around the world, such as California College of the Arts, University of Arts London, Kingston University, Sheffield Hallam University, Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, Parsons School of Design, Paris, and so on. In academic year 2010-2011, there will be approximately 100 students studying in the International Foundation Course.
