The University of Notre Dame administers the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)

scheme on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and

Research (DIISR). The scholarships offer an opportunity for international students to obtain a

postgraduate qualification and gain experience with leading Australian researchers. The scholarship

program is funded by DIISR and awarded by the university to outstanding international postgraduate

students to support Australia’s research effort.

Duration and Value

Duration: 3.0 years

Extra Details: The scholarships cover the tuition fees at the university and health insurance premiums for

the student and his/her dependants. The scholarships are tenable for a period of 2 years for a master by

research degree or 3 years for a doctorate by research degree.

Eligibility criteria

General information

The scholarships are open to international students of all countries (except New Zealand). Applicants

must: be commencing fulltime study for a higher degree by research at the university? be enrolling in the

institution’s area of research concentration? satisfy all academic entry requirements for a master by

research or a doctorate by research program, including English proficiency levels? not hold the equivalent

of an Australian doctorate or master by research degree? and not have held an Australian Agency for

International Development (AusAID) scholarship within the 2 years prior to the commencement of their

IPRS.
