Required in Jubail Saudi Arabia for September start
Jubail University College invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer positions of in Mathematics and Statistics.
The College, established in 2006, is part of the Royal Commission and is located in coastal Jubail Industrial City in the heart of the prosperous Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The medium of instruction is English and the college runs a preparatory year program for students who must reach a prescribed level of proficiency in English, Mathematics and General Science, before beginning their major/specialization studies.
The Applicant should meet the following minimum criteria:
- Essential that the candidate holds an MSc in Statistics or Mathematics from an internationally recognized university, but PhD holders are welcome to apply and are preferred.
- Have at least 5 years of full time teaching experience at university level where English is the teaching medium.
- Proficiency in oral and written English and computer literacy.
- Applicants with administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting would be preferred.
- Preferably have experience with statistical computer software packages such as SPSS, GEMSTAT, STATA, Minitab, STATISTICA, MSTAT-C and others.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Developing and implementing a curriculum as approved by the department.
- Prepare lessons and teach students mathematical principles in a manner that is within their ability to comprehend, assist student learning, answer questions and work one-on-one with students during office hours.
- Teaching staff are required to work 40 hours per week, consisting of up to 18 hours classroom teaching, the remaining hours are office and preparation hours. Teaching staff may be required to cover for others on occasion.
- Mark and comment on homework and class work.
- Prepare and proctor placement tests, class quizzes and exams.
- Develop supplementary materials for courses taught, where necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and/or workshops arranged by the chair.
- Act as advisor to a number of student advisees.
