Post-doctoral Research Associate Position in Environmental Modeling

The Faculty of Engineering at University of Georgia at Athens invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position. The successful candidate will participate in National Science Foundation-sponsored projects on modeling integrated urban infrastructure systems and chemical water treatment process. This is a highly collaborative project that requires close interaction with students and researchers in two other institutes.

The project will model the system dynamics of the water/energy/land use and analysis of water/energy infrastructure using integrated GIS system. When integrated with team partner research, this work will lead to an assessment tool for sustainability and resilience of infrastructure plans.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, geochemistry, or a closely related field. Modeling of a specific water treatment process or distribution network is also expected.

The position is open until filled and can be as early as summer 2010. The appointment will be for two year, with possibility of renewals for subsequent years. Salary is negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the position carries benefits.
