Project Description:
The Center for Engineering Science Advanced Research (CESAR) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks outstanding candidates for two research and development positions in missile defense. These positions involve participation in a national team from federal laboratories that conduct algorithms development, implementation and assessment for the US Missile Defense Agency’s Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) systems.
Qualifications:
This position requires substantial expertise in computational methods for missile defense, including tracking, discrimination, sensor resources allocation, Kalman and particle filters, etc. Prior experience with development and implementation of algorithms on distributed multicore processor architectures is desirable. Of particular interest is prior experience with Nvidia’s Tesla GPU processor, and programming skills in FORTRAN 95/2003, C (as well as CUDA FORTRAN and CUDA C), and in MATLAB.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science having technical background in the above mentioned areas of interest. Exceptional candidates with M.Sc or B.Sc degrees will also be considered.
These positions require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (or a Department of Defense) security clearance. Such clearances typically require US citizenship.
Target starting date for these positions is October 1, 2010.
