The Ph.D-Programme in Sociology is open to applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Social Psychology or Sociology with an Orientation towards Work, Organization and Human Resource Management. The selection will be based on an assessment of the applicant’s aptitude for successful completion of studies. The bases for this judgment are the previously written undergraduate thesis, other written material, and the research plan.
Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: A Research Plan of five to six pages, in which a research topic is presented and delimited. As part of the Research Plan, the applicant is required to place the proposed research in a theoretical context and is requested to give a short presentation of a method or technique suitable for the proposed research. Arguments are to be presented for the chosen theoretical perspective as well as for the proposed methodological approach. Candidates are advised that – once fulfilling formal prerequisites – they will be evaluated and ranked based on supplied written material including the Research Plan. The purpose of the Research Plan is not only to probe the applicant’s ability to structure a research question, relate it to sociological theories and identify salient methods but also to give an indication of the research interests of the applicant. This does not, however, imply that the applicant has either a right or an obligation to pursue doctoral studies in accordance with the Research Plan.
