The candidates must have a university degree (M.Sc. level) in electrical and computer engineering or computer science. In addition, they must have background in mathematics and computer programming. An excellent command of English is required.

Scholarship Description: Open position for a PhD student in the area of 3D-model reconstruction and computer vision. This position is for an Early Stage Researcher in the project GoCARB – Type 1 Diabetes Self-Management and Carbohydrate Counting: A Computer Vision based Approach, a Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways grant funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme. The aim of GoCARB is the design, development and evaluation of a system which will permit the automatic, near real-time recognition of the different types of foods on a plate and the estimation of their content of carbohydrates. In addition, this information will be used to optimise the calculation of the bolus insulin dose.
