Applications are invited for an Assistant/Associate Professor position at the Center for Microbial Biotechnology (CMB), DTU Systems Biology.
CMB was the first Engineering Center of Excellence (IVC) within the field of biotechnology in Denmark. The center conducts basic research in the field of fermentation, systems biology, fungal biodiversity and metabolomics and currently employs around 30 scientists and 20 PhD students within a multi-disciplinary work environment (e.g. biochemical engineers, mycologists, molecular biologists, chemists and computer scientists). CMB offers high-level course activities and internationally renowned scientific research related to industrial fermentation processes and the development of advanced cell factories.
Responsibililties and tasks
The successful candidate is expected to:
-teach according to the needs of the department: currently within metabolic
-engineering and industrial mycology
-supervise B.Sc.- M.Sc.- and Ph.D. students
-perform research according to own initiatives and in collaborations within the field of molecular genetics of fungal secondary metabolism
-raise funds for research
-establish collaborations domestically and internationally with academic as well as with industrial partners
-take parts in general duties delegated to CMB faculty
Qualifications
Candidates for an
-Assistant Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent)
-Associate Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship and should document didactic/pedagogic training.
The successful applicant for the Assistant/Associate Professor position is experienced in fungal molecular biology and possesses knowledge of fungal secondary metabolism. Moreover, teaching experience in general cell biology/molecular biology and in fungal laboratory courses is advantageous.
Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:
-experience in teaching and education
-scientific production and research potential at an international level
-the ability to promote and utilize research results
-an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
-the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
